Vineyard and Winemaking

The 2011 Wilridge Viognier is from Rosebud vineyards in the Yakima Valley. The vineyard features warm days and cool nights which are perfect for ripening Viognier grapes while retaining flavor and acidity.  The grapes were picked by hand on October 11, 2011.and transported to the winery in Seattle where they were hand sorted, crushed by foot, and gently pressed in whole clusters.  Winemaker Paul Beveridge fermented the Viognier in stainless steel tanks to perserve it's fresh and fruity aromatics.  The result is a nearly dry wine in a style typical of the Condrieu region of the Northern Rhone Valley, where Viognier originated.

Tasting Notes

The 2011 Viognier is straw yellow in color.  The nose is redolent of white peaches and citrus fruits.  The wine is off-dry and finishes with refreshing acitidy.  It's medium bodied and meant for immediate enjoyment.  Good on its own, the wine also pairs well with Asian cuisine and spicy foods.  Try taking it to a picnic or barbecue on a warm summer's day.
